Indore, 28th Aug: The political fate of three Indore Municipal Corporation corporators hangs in balance after the Madhya Pradesh High Court, Indore Bench, ordered the state government to take a decision on their disqualification within two months.

Corporators Shivam Yadav (Ward 17), Mamta Subhash Suner (Ward 15), and Vinita Dharmendra Maurya (Ward 23) had contested and won the 2022 municipal elections as Congress candidates but later switched allegiance to the BJP in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and minister Kailash Vijayvargiya.

Taking objection to this defection, Congress corporator and Indore District Mahila Congress president Sonila Mimrot submitted a representation on May 20, 2024, seeking their disqualification under Section 17(2) of the MP Municipal Corporation Act, 1956, and demanded fresh elections under Section 17(3).

With no action taken by the state government, Mimrot moved the High Court through advocate Jayesh Gurnani. On August 26, 2025, the court disposed of the petition directing the government to decide on the matter within two months after hearing all concerned parties.

The state was represented by advocate Dr. Amit Bhatia.
