IndiGo Kuwait–Hyderabad Flight Diverted to Mumbai After ‘Human Bomb’ Threat

Security agencies rush into action; airline statement awaited

GG News Bureau
Mumbai, 2nd Dec: An IndiGo flight operating from Kuwait to Hyderabad was diverted to Mumbai early Tuesday after an emailed threat warned of a “human bomb” onboard, triggering a high-alert security response, according to initial reports. The message, received at the Delhi airport, warned of an explosive threat linked to flight 6E1234, News18 reported.

An official statement from IndiGo is awaited.

Security agencies, including emergency responders and bomb squads, were positioned at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport ahead of the aircraft’s arrival. The Airbus A321-251NX departed Kuwait at 1:56 am and landed safely in Mumbai at 8:10 am, flight data from FlightRadar24 showed.

Tuesday’s scare comes barely a week after Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport received a similar threat involving a Bahrain–Hyderabad flight. That aircraft, too, was diverted to Mumbai, where exhaustive checks revealed no explosive device. Police later confirmed the incident was a hoax.

Following the latest threat, security checks were initiated in Mumbai. Authorities are verifying the contents of the email and assessing any potential link with recent hoax threats. A case is expected to be registered once preliminary inquiries are completed.
