Varanasi, 22nd Oct: An IndiGo flight 6E-6961 traveling from Kolkata to Srinagar was forced to make an emergency landing at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport, Varanasi, on Wednesday after a reported fuel leak onboard.
The flight, carrying 166 passengers and crew members, landed safely at 4:10 PM following quick decision-making by the cockpit crew. Air Traffic Control (ATC) immediately cleared the aircraft for landing, and the crew brought the plane down cautiously on the runway. All passengers were safely escorted to the arrivals hall without any injuries.
Passengers lauded the crew’s swift and professional response, with many praising their courage on social media. Airport authorities and technical teams have launched an investigation into the reported fuel leak.
This is the second IndiGo emergency landing incident within a week. On October 14, an IndiGo flight bound for Kolkata had to land at Agartala Airport shortly after takeoff due to a suspected bird strike. In that case too, all passengers were accommodated on other flights, and no major damage occurred.
