India’s Security Under Siege: Amit Shah’s Battle Against Terrorism and Naxalism

New Delhi: The line of terrorists firing guns is no longer in sight. The martyr issue and sacrifices of our troops have now turned into the subject of political discussion, with issues being raised by opposition leaders. How did 113 Naxalites perish in 80 days? Why was Suhila spared? These and similar questions, raised in the Rajya Sabha, have heated up the political temperature and surprised everyone. While this is happening, we will see how, in a mere 80 days, 113 Naxalites were slain.

Let’s begin with Amit Shah, the Indian Home Minister, who always makes decisions concerning the security of the country that amaze everyone. But some people have the tendency to indulge in meaningless rhetoric and interfere with the work of the government. But this time, the opposition was left stunned when Amit Shah gave a speech in the Rajya Sabha. Speaking on the security of the nation, he shared that over the last 10 years, India had changed its approach to tackle terrorism. He mentioned surgical strikes inside Pakistan and noted that several challenges, including terrorism in Kashmir, Naxalism, and northeastern insurgencies, were being tackled effectively.

He also emphasized the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism, a sharp contrast to previous administrations, which failed to act due to vote-bank politics. Amit Shah explained that the Modi government had abrogated Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, dispensed with the idea of “two laws in one country,” and declared that previous governments paid no heed to terrorist attacks. He added, “Now, the tricolor flies proudly at Lal Chowk, whereas previously, terrorist rallies were organized there.”. Terrorists are eliminated today at the location where they previously used to organize rallies.” Amit Shah went on to clarify that there wasn’t even a single strike in Kashmir during 7025 days of rule under the present government, and Jammu and Kashmir today has an investment-friendly atmosphere. Normalcy is felt in the region, where elections now proceed peacefully without any attack.

Amit Shah laid stress on elimination of terrorism and declared that the earlier governments did not act strongly because of political reasons. He also pointed out that today, no terrorist processions are witnessed; terrorists are being eliminated on the spot. He added that relatives of terrorists used to get government jobs and other privileges, but the government had ousted them from such jobs now.

Regarding the Naxalite question, Amit Shah also asserted a clear stand, setting an ultimatum for putting an end to Naxalism by 31 March, 2026. According to him, the number of districts hit by Naxals in Chhattisgarh has declined tremendously from 126 to a mere 12. The efforts of the government had dislocated the spine of the Naxals and had annihilated their supporters. Security personnel had built roads, provided Naxal regions with mobile phone connectivity, and enrolled tribal youth into the security forces, all of which facilitated development.

Amit Shah also spoke on how the opposition projected Naxalism as a political phenomenon and asserted that with development and security in place, the nation would be free from Naxalites by 2026. He also cited the advancements being made in Chhattisgarh, where 113 Naxalites were eliminated in 80 days, and several were arrested or surrendered. Amit Shah applauded the security personnel for their performance, particularly in areas of Bijapur and Kanker.

In Baster, the security personnel made a big kill, eliminating at least 30 Maoists in independent operations in Bijapur and Kanker. One of the soldiers, however, was martyred. This was a massive operation involving several security agencies. The security personnel, including the DRG, CRPF, and special commandos, launched these operations based on intelligence inputs.

Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai also said that the martyrdom of the soldier would not be in vain. The operation was a planned one, and several Naxalites were killed because of the good intelligence and local inputs supplied by the security forces. This is just an example of how the government’s strategy, under the guidance of Amit Shah, is making serious progress in eradicating Naxalism from the nation.
