New Delhi, 30th Dec: The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare has released the latest rabi crop sowing data as of December 26, 2025, showing a steady increase in overall area coverage during the ongoing rabi season.
According to official figures, total rabi crop coverage has reached 614.30 lakh hectare, marking an increase of 6.87 lakh hectare compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
Pulses recorded a major rise, with total area increasing by 3.65 lakh hectare. Among pulses, gram (chickpea) registered the highest growth, expanding by 4.66 lakh hectare, highlighting stronger farmer preference and favourable sowing conditions.
Wheat, the principal rabi crop, continued its stable performance with coverage touching 322.68 lakh hectare, maintaining levels comparable to last year. Oilseeds also witnessed an increase of 1.04 lakh hectare, with rapeseed and mustard leading gains at 1.23 lakh hectare.
Coverage under Shri Anna and coarse cereals remained stable, while maize and barley showed moderate growth. Rice and sunflower also posted marginal increases.
The Ministry said the data reflects steady progress of the rabi season, supported by improved soil moisture, better input availability and stable weather conditions across major growing states.
