New Delhi, 7th Feb. In a detailed response to a query posed in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, unveiled significant developments in India’s ambitious space exploration endeavor—the Bharatiya Antariksh Station (BAS) project.
Dr. Singh disclosed that the BAS initiative, led by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), has progressed into the crucial conceptualization phase.
Moreover, Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted ISRO’s strategic approach towards realizing the BAS vision. The agency is meticulously planning the phased assembly of the space station, aiming for completion by 2035. He emphasized that ISRO is actively formulating a prospective roadmap to guide the realization of different modules and their subsequent launches.
In addition to detailing the BAS project, Dr. Singh provided insights into India’s ambitious lunar exploration missions. ISRO is actively conceptualizing future missions, encompassing the feasibility of robotic exploration through orbiters, landers, and rovers.
Addressing concerns about funding, Dr. Jitendra Singh assured that allocations for the BAS project will be sought upon the completion of feasibility studies. The proposal will then be formally presented for government approval at an appropriate juncture.
The Lok Sabha session witnessed a significant revelation of India’s strides in space exploration, underscoring the nation’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of scientific and technological advancement in the domain of space exploration.
