Dublin, 2nd Aug: The Embassy of India in Dublin has issued a security advisory for all Indian citizens in Ireland, urging them to take reasonable precautions for their personal safety following a recent surge in physical and racially motivated attacks. The advisory, which was issued yesterday, states that the embassy is in contact with Irish authorities regarding the incidents.

The advisory comes in the wake of several brutal assaults on Indian nationals, including a widely reported racist attack on a man in Tallaght, Dublin, on July 19. In that incident, an Indian national was stabbed multiple times, and the assault, classified by the Irish police as racially motivated, triggered widespread outrage and protests. Another recent attack left an Indian-origin entrepreneur with a fractured cheekbone after he was assaulted by a group of teenagers.

In the advisory, the embassy stated, “There has been an increase in the instances of physical attacks reported against Indian citizens in Ireland recently.” It further advised all Indian citizens to “avoid deserted areas, especially at odd hours.”

The embassy has also shared emergency contact information for citizens requiring assistance, including a phone number and an email address. The Indian community in Ireland, which is a key part of the country’s IT and healthcare sectors, has expressed growing concerns about safety.
