WASHINGYON – India Ministry of External Affairs on Saturday expressed deep concern over the evolving security situation in West Asia, emphasized that dialogue and diplomacy must be pursued to reduce tensions and address underlying issues.

It stressed respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity of all nations.

The reaction from the Ministry of External Affairs came after heightened regional tensions following a joint military strike by Israel and the US on Iran, reportedly codenamed Operation Roaring Lion.

“India is deeply concerned at the recent developments in Iran and the Gulf region. We urge all sides to exercise restraint, avoid escalation, and prioritize the safety of civilians,” the MEA said in an official statement.

The ministry added that Indian missions across the region are maintaining close contact with Indian nationals and have issued advisories urging citizens to remain vigilant and follow local security instructions.

Embassy of India in Tel Aviv issued separate advisory asked Indian nationals in Israel to exercise utmost caution at all times in view of the prevailing situation.

The citizens have been advised to strictly adhere to safety guidelines issued by Israeli authorities and the Home Front Command, remain close to designated shelters, and familiarize themselves with protected spaces near their residence or workplace, the advisory stated.

The embassy also urged Indian nationals to avoid all non-essential travel within Israel until further notice and to regularly monitor local news, official announcements, and emergency alerts.

Emergency assistance is available through the Embassy’s 24×7 helpline in Tel Aviv, officials said.

They added that the mission remains in close coordination with local authorities and will continue issuing updates as required.
