NEW YORK – Xiaomi on Monday launched  new 17 series in China, featured Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, HyperOS 3, dual displays on Pro models, Leica cameras, massive batteries, and premium design.

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has officially released its latest flagship lineup.

Yes, the Xiaomi 17 phone series is out! The series for now includes three models: Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, company stated.

These phones come with top-tier performance. Advanced photography enthusiasts and premium design lovers are its target customers. This means the aim is squarely at the high-end smartphone market.

All three devices is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, built using a 3nm process.

The devices run on HyperOS 3, Xiaomi’s new operating system based on Android 16. It offers features inspired by the iPhone’s Dynamic Island, called HyperIsland.

The standout feature of the Pro models is the secondary display on the back, known as the Magic Back Screen.

Users can capture selfies using the main cameras, use it as a viewfinder, pin notes with a single tap, play media, or even play games.

The Pro models also boast a rear camera setup reminiscent of the iPhone 17 Pro. But Xiaomi adds its own twist with the secondary display integrated into the camera island.

The Xiaomi 17 Pro Max has a 6.9-inch 2K front display. This comes reinforced with Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass, and offers sharp visuals and strong durability.

The Xiaomi 17 Pro features a slightly smaller 6.3-inch display. The base Xiaomi 17 has a 7,000mAh battery and a large screen. But it doesn’t have a secondary display.

Both Pro models are 8mm thick and weigh 192 grams. This makes them slimmer and lighter than their iPhone counterparts. All three models are available in multiple colors, including blue, black, white, and pink Xiaomi 17.

The photography gets a major upgrade in the Pro models.

The Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max feature a triple rear camera setup tuned by Leica, including: 50MP Light Hunter 950L main sensor, 50MP ultrawide lens, 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom.

Both Pro models offer a 50MP front camera for selfies. This camera system aims at photography enthusiasts who want professional-level features all in a smartphone.

The base Xiaomi 17 also supports very high-quality photography. But it lacks the advanced Leica optics and secondary screen.

The highlight of this series is its battery life. Xiaomi 17 Pro Max comes with 7,500mAh, Xiaomi 17 Pro with 6,300mAh, Xiaomi 17 with 7,000mAh batteries.

All three models support 100W wired fast charging, and also 50W wireless charging. With these massive batteries, the phones are likely to easily last a full day even with heavy usage.

The Pro models also promise better battery optimization. Thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and HyperOS 3.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 comes paired with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. This ensures that the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max and Pro models can handle gaming, multitasking, and heavy apps, that too without breaking a sweat.

The phones feature HyperOS 3’s smart features. These include AI-enhancements for everyday usage, camera and gaming.

These devices promise smooth scrolling for regular users.

It also comes with faster app launches and seamless performance. But for power users, the HyperIsland feature offers quick shortcuts and a dynamic interface. This draws inspiration from Apple but with Xiaomi’s own style.
