India and Sweden signed a Statement of Intent (SoI) to deepen cooperation in Artificial Intelligence and digital technologies, marking a new phase in bilateral innovation ties.

The agreement was signed between the IndiaAI Mission and Business Sweden on the sidelines of the India AI Impact Summit 2026.

Launch of SITAC Corridor

Under the pact, both sides will jointly develop the Sweden–India Technology and Artificial Intelligence Corridor (SITAC), which will serve as a flagship platform for structured engagement among government bodies, industry leaders, startups and academic institutions.

The framework aims to strengthen collaboration in the development, application and deployment of AI solutions with emphasis on real-world industrial and societal outcomes. It also seeks to promote trade, investment and responsible, scalable digital innovation.

Kavita Bhatia, COO of IndiaAI Mission, said the partnership reflects complementary strengths and shared democratic values, positioning both nations to shape the next phase of global technological transformation.

Sofia Högman, Trade & Invest Commissioner of Sweden to India, said SITAC would connect AI ecosystems in both countries and create new business opportunities.

Key Areas of Cooperation

Under SITAC, initiatives will include:

  • Conferences, seminars and thematic workshops
  • Exchange programmes between Indian and Swedish AI ecosystems
  • Field visits to innovation hubs and centres of excellence
  • Engagement among companies, investors, researchers and policymakers
  • Identification of joint innovation platforms and investment corridors
  • Bilateral deployment of AI solutions across priority sectors

The partnership aligns with India’s goal of building a comprehensive national AI ecosystem through compute, data and talent access, while leveraging Sweden’s strengths in industrial innovation, advanced research and responsible AI practices.

Officials said the collaboration is expected to benefit enterprises, startups and research institutions in both countries by enabling the joint development of scalable and inclusive AI solutions.
