India Reaffirms Global Commitment to Disaster Resilience at UN Platform in Geneva

Geneva, 4th June: Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Dr. P. K. Mishra, reaffirmed India’s unwavering commitment to global disaster resilience during his address at the 8th Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction, held in Geneva on June 3.

Representing India on the international stage, Dr. Mishra emphasized the country’s proactive role in disaster preparedness and its dedication to fostering global partnerships for a safer, more resilient future. Speaking at the opening ceremony, he highlighted India’s integrated and inclusive approach to disaster risk reduction, grounded in both community participation and scientific innovation.

In a key bilateral engagement, Dr. Mishra held constructive discussions with Norway’s Deputy Minister for International Development, Ms. Stine Renate Håheim. The meeting focused on deepening international cooperation, particularly in areas such as early warning systems, climate resilience, and capacity building.

“India stands firmly with the global community in addressing the complex challenges of disaster risk. Collaboration is key to building a safer world for all,” Dr. Mishra stated during the high-level gathering.

The Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction, convened by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), serves as a critical forum for governments, civil society, and stakeholders to share strategies and innovations aimed at reducing disaster risks worldwide.
