India PM thanked Netanyahu on progress, welcomes Gaza peace plan

WASHINGTON – India Prime Minister Narendra Modi Thursday congratulated Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the progress made welcomed the agreement on the first phase of US President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan.

The plan includes the release of hostages and enhanced humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza, media reported.

PM Modi said on X “Called my friend, Prime Minister Netanyahu, to congratulate him on the progress made under President Trump’s Gaza peace plan,”.

He added, “We welcome the agreement on the release of hostages and enhanced humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza. Reaffirmed that terrorism in any form or manifestation is unacceptable anywhere in the world.”

According to official sources and media reports the Gaza peace plan, brokered by the US, aims to bring an end to the nearly two-year-long conflict between Israel and Hamas.

The agreement marked a significant breakthrough in the diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict, with both sides agreeing to a ceasefire and hostage release.

Modi had welcomed the agreement, stated it reflects the strong leadership of Prime Minister Netanyahu.

“We welcome the agreement on the first phase of President Trump’s peace plan,” Modi said.

“This is also a reflection of the strong leadership of PM Netanyahu. We hope the release of hostages and enhanced humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza will bring respite to them and pave the way for lasting peace.”

UN head Antonio Guterres commended the intense diplomatic efforts and called on all parties to fully implement the terms of the agreement.

The international community has welcomed the agreement, media reported.
