India-Kyrgyzstan Joint Special Forces Exercise Khanjar Begins in Himachal Pradesh

The Indian-Kyrgyzstan Joint Special Forces Exercise KHANJAR has begun in Himachal Pradesh. This is the 11th edition of the exercise, which is held annually in both countries.

The exercise will take place from January 22nd to February 3rd, 2024, at the Special Forces Training School in Bakloh.

The Indian Army contingent consists of 20 personnel from The Parachute Regiment (Special Forces), while the Kyrgyzstan contingent is represented by the Scorpion Brigade, also with 20 personnel.

The main objective of the exercise is to exchange experiences and best practices in Counter Terrorism and Special Forces Operations in Built-up Area and Mountainous Terrain.

The exercise will focus on developing Special Forces skills and advanced techniques of insertion and extraction.

In addition to strengthening defence ties, the exercise aims to address common concerns of international terrorism and extremism. It will also provide an opportunity to showcase cutting-edge indigenous defence equipment and promote bilateral relations.
