Tokyo, 9th Sept. The second India-Japan Finance Dialogue took place in Tokyo on September 6, 2024, with a focus on enhancing financial cooperation and strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.
The dialogue was led by Atsushi Mimura, Vice Minister of Finance for International Affairs from Japan, and Ajay Seth, Secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, India.
The Japanese delegation included officials from the Ministry of Finance and the Financial Services Agency.
On the Indian side, representatives from the Ministry of Finance, Reserve Bank of India, Securities and Exchange Board of India, Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority, Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India, and the International Financial Services Centres Authority participated in the discussions.
The participants engaged in discussions on the macroeconomic situations of both countries, cooperation in third countries, and bilateral financial collaboration.
Topics covered included financial sector issues such as regulation, supervision, digitalization, and other policy initiatives. A session with Japan’s financial services industry also addressed regulatory issues to facilitate increased investment in India.
Both sides agreed to continue their discussions to further promote financial cooperation and strengthen bilateral ties. They also considered the possibility of holding the next round of the dialogue in New Delhi.
