New Delhi, 6th March: Bhupender Yadav and Sari Multala on Thursday renewed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on environmental cooperation between India and Finland in New Delhi.

The renewed agreement builds on the MoU first signed in 2020 and aims to deepen cooperation on pollution prevention, waste management, climate change mitigation and sustainable management of forests and natural resources.

In a post on social media platform X, Yadav said the renewal of the MoU would further strengthen the partnership between the two countries through knowledge sharing and technology cooperation.

Under the renewed framework, both countries will collaborate on several areas including prevention and control of air and water pollution, remediation of contaminated soil, and improved waste management practices such as hazardous waste handling, waste-to-energy initiatives and recycling.

The agreement also focuses on promoting circular economy models and low-carbon solutions in the use of natural resources and forests, while strengthening efforts related to climate change mitigation and adaptation.

Officials said the partnership would also enhance cooperation in environmental and forest monitoring, data management, conservation and sustainable use of marine and coastal resources, and integrated water resource management.

Both sides also explored opportunities to expand collaboration on circular economy initiatives through focused dialogue and joint projects.
