India Bloc’s 4th Meeting: Agendas, PM Candidate Suspense, and Other Details

The INDIA alliance, consisting of Congress, TMC, Samajwadi Party, CPI (M), AAP, and PDP among others, will convene in New Delhi today to discuss a joint campaign strategy, seat sharing, and the reformation of their approach to challenge the BJP in the 2024 general elections.

Key Agendas for the INDIA Bloc Meeting
• The INDIA bloc meeting will take place at the Ashoka Hotel at 3 pm on Tuesday. This will be the fourth meeting of the opposition parties in the INDIA bloc. Previous meetings were held on June 23 (in Patna), July 17-18 (in Bengaluru), and August 31-September 1 (in Mumbai).
• The leaders will discuss strategies to defeat PM Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
• Regarding the Prime Ministerial candidate for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee stated that the INDIA bloc’s PM candidate will be decided after the 2024 general elections.
• However, posters featuring Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar were displayed in Patna, demanding his selection as the Prime Ministerial face of the INDIA bloc.
• Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav expressed confidence in regional parties’ ability to defeat the BJP. He stated that wherever regional parties exist, the BJP is nowhere to be seen. Most of the regional parties are part of the INDIA bloc, according to the RJD leader.
• Delhi Cabinet Minister and senior AAP leader Atishi informed the media that CM Arvind Kejriwal will make every possible effort to ensure the success of the INDIA alliance.
• TMC MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay expressed hope that today’s meeting will yield positive results. He added that the alliance should convey the message that it can fight and defeat the BJP.

• Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi criticized the Central government, stating, “This meeting becomes even more important after the dictatorial behavior of the central government…The way they are misusing their powers, it is important for the people to know about it. It is important to inform the people that what is happening with the Members of Parliament today can happen to them as well.”
• JMM MP Mahua Maji stated that the opposition parties will take measures to ensure that mistakes made in recent Assembly polls are not repeated. She added that the alliance has been formed to win, and seat-sharing should be based on the candidates’ chances of winning.
• The INDIA bloc has chosen the theme “Judega Bharat, Jeetega India” (India will unite, India will win) to challenge the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government.
