INDIA Bloc Partners Congress and Samajwadi Party Finalize Seat-Sharing Agreement in UP for Lok Sabha Polls

Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections, the coalition partners of the INDIA bloc, the Congress party, and the Samajwadi Party (SP), have reached a consensus on seat-sharing in Uttar Pradesh.

According to the agreement, the Congress will contest from 17 out of the 80 Lok Sabha seats in the state, while the SP and its other alliance partners will vie for the remaining 63 seats.

The alliance between the SP and the Congress is part of the larger INDIA bloc formed by opposition parties to challenge the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the forthcoming general elections.

Among the 17 seats allocated to the Congress in Uttar Pradesh, notable constituencies include Raebareli and Amethi, historically considered strongholds of the party. Additionally, the Congress will field candidates in Varanasi, the constituency represented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The seats from which the Congress will contest in Uttar Pradesh are as follows:

The announcement regarding seat-sharing was made during a joint press conference held in Uttar Pradesh, attended by prominent leaders including SP state chief Naresh Uttam Patel, SP national general secretary Rajendra Chaudhary, Congress state president Ajay Rai, and AICC in-charge of UP Avinash Pande.
