New Delhi, 12th September. What is a more accurate definition of China? A Chinese Communist Party-run mass detention facility. What is the CCP’s role? It controls ‘prisoners’ thoughts, movements and actions. This was close to the territorial boundary.
What does the CCP do, outside the territorial border? It uses its empty chequebook and paper army to intimidate its neighbors. However, this time it messed with the wrong neighbor, India, and is now forced to return to its homeland.
China begs India to make peace
After being thrashed by the mighty Indian soldiers in the Galwan valley, the CCP managed to stay on the border for two years. Wei Fenghe, Chinese Defense Minister General had himself invoked the neighborhood card to bring India into China’s fold. Wei stated at the Shangri-La Dialog in Singapore, “China and India are neighbours, and maintaining a good relationship serves the interests of both countries.” And that is what we are working on,…” It is finally happening for Wei’s peace.
The CCP retreats
China is attempting to correct its course after realizing that it cannot move a whisker without India. China has agreed to withdraw Indian and Chinese troops from the Gogra-Hot Springs area, also known as patrolling point-15 or PP-15. The process of disengagement will be completed by September 12. Both countries have agreed to hold talks in order to resolve the remaining issue on the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
According to Arindam Bagchi, spokesperson for the External Affairs Ministry, “with the resolution of the stand-off at PP-15, both sides mutually agreed to take the talks forward and resolve the remaining issues along LAC and restore peace and tranquillity in India-China border areas.” The disengagement occurs just before the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, which is scheduled for next week.
This time, the disengagement occurs on the Gogra-Hot Springs, which are only the third point of friction at the Line of Actual Control. China had previously withdrawn from the north and south banks of Pangong Tso Lake, as well as from Gogra.
Why can’t India and the rest of the world trust China?
Despite China’s posturing about disengagement, China is a country that has repeatedly betrayed India, and India cannot afford to trust the CCP-ruled China at this time. China has a history of duping India, whether it was the 1962 war, the capture of ‘Aksai Chin,’ or picking land masses from border states and declaring that they are ours since ancient times. China has no faith in the international world order and has successfully turned the WTO, WHO, and several UN organs into mouthpieces for the CCP. The Galwan clash is evidence of this, and despite the disengagement, India should continue to view China with suspicion in the near future. China is also the world’s largest financier of terrorism, which the Gulf and the West conveniently ignore. While expanding its CPEC project, China has been making its bed with Pakistan for decades. And, thanks to Nehru, who handed China the UN Security Council’s permanent seat on a silver platter, India is in a relatively weaker position at the UN.
India should not relax its guard
The CCP is a repeat offender when it comes to lying, cheating, and deception, among other things. In its long-term strategy, India should prioritize isolating China while remaining vigilant. The clash in Northern India had jolted the entire world awake from their slumber. China’s blunders in the South China Sea must not be ignored. China is a threat not only to India, but to the entire world.
China de-escalating at the border will send a negative message about Jinxing, who has declared himself Emperor for life and is banking on hyper-nationalism this time. As a result, India must keep its eyes peeled.
