Security measures have been strengthened in and around Imphal, the capital of Manipur, as the Arambai Tenggol has requested a meeting with all ministers and MLAs from the valley districts. The meeting is scheduled to take place at Kangla Fort on Wednesday, according to an official.

Arambai Tenggol, an organization consisting of approximately 50,000 individuals responsible for safeguarding villages in the valley regions of the state, has summoned all ministers and MLAs from the valley districts for discussions. However, the specific details of the meeting have not been disclosed. The official also mentioned that there are intelligence reports suggesting that Arambai Tenggol intends to enter Kangla Fort armed, prior to the meeting.

Security forces, fully equipped for battle, are currently stationed in the high-security area where the Raj Bhavan, CM Secretariat, Manipur Police headquarters, 1st Manipur Rifles complex, and Kangla Fort are situated.

All entry points to Kangla Fort have been barricaded. Kangla Fort served as the royal seat of the Manipur kingdom until 1891.

Previously, Arambai Tenggol had summoned all legislators to attend a meeting at Kangla Fort, as stated by the official.

On Monday, a three-member team from the Union Home Ministry met with the leaders of the group at the residence of Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba, according to the official.

Officials have reported that the group has made several demands, including the removal of Kukis from the Scheduled Tribes (ST) list, relocation of refugees to camps in Mizoram, border fencing, replacement of Assam Rifles with other paramilitary forces, and the cancellation of the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement between the Central government and Kuki militant groups.
