Vancouver, 3rd Sept. Punjabi singer AP Dhillon assured fans of his safety after gunshots were fired outside his residence on Victoria Island in Vancouver, Canada. The incident, which occurred on Sunday, has reportedly been claimed by Rohit Godara, a purported member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
In an Instagram post, Dhillon confirmed, “I’m safe, My people are safe. Thank you to everyone who reached out to me. Your support means everything.” The incident has raised concerns as a purported post by Godara alleges that shots were fired at two locations in Canada—Victoria Island and Woodbridge, Toronto. The post claims the firing was linked to Dhillon’s recent collaboration with Bollywood actor Salman Khan in a music video, and includes death threats against the singer.
AP Dhillon, known for hits such as ‘Brown Munde,’ ‘Excuses,’ and ‘Insane,’ has seen rapid success blending 80s-style synth-pop with Punjabi music. The shooting incident follows a troubling pattern of violence involving high-profile figures.
Last November, Lawrence Bishnoi reportedly took responsibility for a shooting outside singer Gippy Grewal’s house in Vancouver’s White Rock neighbourhood. Earlier this year, a similar attack occurred outside Salman Khan’s residence in Mumbai, leading to Bishnoi and his brother Anmol being declared wanted by Mumbai police.
