A contingent of 71 personnel from the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) Sarang Helicopter Display Team has touched down at the Paya Lebar Air Base in Singapore to participate in the prestigious Singapore Air Show 2024.

Renowned for their breathtaking aerobatic displays, the Sarang team will showcase their skills with five Advanced Light Helicopters (ALH), also known as ‘Dhruv’.

The induction of the team and their equipment was facilitated by the IAF’s C-17 Globemaster III heavy lift transport aircraft.

Scheduled from February 20 to February 24, the biennial Singapore Air Show attracts participants from around the world, featuring a diverse range of aerial displays.

Established in 2003, the Sarang Helicopter Display Team made its international debut in 2004 at the Asian Aerospace Show in Singapore. Evolving from a three-helicopter formation to a thrilling five-helicopter display, the team has performed over 1200 displays at more than 385 venues worldwide.

The ‘Dhruv’ helicopter, conceptualized and designed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), is an all-weather, multi-mission capable aircraft. Equipped with rigid, hinge-less rotors, the ALH MK-I variant flown by the Sarang team offers exceptional maneuverability, ideal for military operations. Other variants include ALH Mk-II, ALH MK-III, and the latest addition, ALH MK IV, featuring enhanced capabilities as an armed version.

The participation of the Sarang Helicopter Display Team in the Singapore Air Show underscores India’s prowess in aviation technology and its commitment to fostering international cooperation in the field of aerospace.
