Patna, 15th Sept: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday reaffirmed his commitment to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), expressing regret over his short-lived alliances with the RJD-Congress combine, which he said “always indulged in mischief when we shared power.”

Speaking at a rally in Purnea in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, weeks ahead of the assembly polls, Nitish Kumar recounted the political journey of the JD(U)-BJP alliance. “It was the JD(U)-BJP combine which had formed a government in Bihar for the first time in November 2005. For one or two times, I went to the other side, upon prodding of some of my own party colleagues, one of whom is sitting here,” he said, pointing towards Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh ‘Lalan’. “But, that is a thing of the past. I could never be comfortable with those people. I am now back, and I will not go anywhere henceforth,” he added, evoking smiles and applause from the Prime Minister.

Nitish Kumar also lauded PM Modi for the Union government’s initiatives for Bihar, highlighting the recent budget announcements, including the formation of a National Makhana Board inaugurated by the Prime Minister in Purnea. He further touched upon his government’s initiatives such as providing 125 units of free power and increasing social security pensions.

Towards the end of his speech, the Chief Minister addressed the women present at the rally, asking them to stand and salute the Prime Minister. The women promptly rose, greeted PM Modi with folded hands, and applauded enthusiastically.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi launched multiple development projects worth around Rs 36,000 crore in Purnea district.
