Hyderabad, 27th June: A 41-year-old man and his 37-year-old wife from Mallikarjuna Nagar in Amberpet, Hyderabad, were arrested on Thursday for allegedly live streaming their sexual acts on a mobile app in exchange for money, police officials confirmed.

The couple was taken into custody by the East Zone Task Force following a tip-off. During the raid, police seized several items from their residence, including high-definition cameras used to record and stream explicit content.

According to investigators, the man, who works as a cab driver, and his wife confessed to engaging in the acts to earn easy money. The couple reportedly sold live videos for ₹2,000 and recorded clips for ₹500 to users—mostly youngsters—who accessed the content via the mobile app.

Police said the duo wore masks to conceal their identities during the recordings and operated the illegal activity using sophisticated camera equipment. Their income from this operation far exceeded the man’s earnings as a cab driver, investigators noted.

Authorities have registered a case under relevant sections of the law related to obscenity and information technology. Further investigation is underway to identify the app platform and potential collaborators or customers.

The arrests have sparked concern over the growing misuse of online platforms for explicit content and raised questions about digital monitoring and ethical awareness in the digital age.
