New Delhi, 21st Nov: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on Friday extended greetings to workers across the country as the new Labour Codes came into effect nationwide. He described the reform as the most sweeping overhaul in the history of India’s labour laws under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In a message shared on X, Shah said the implementation of the Labour Codes marks a historic milestone in ensuring enhanced welfare and protection for the workforce. The new framework guarantees minimum wages, social security coverage and equal opportunities for women, while also granting legal recognition to gig and unorganised sector workers.
According to the Home Minister, these changes will significantly uplift living standards for millions of workers and strengthen the foundation of India’s economic progress. He said the initiative will accelerate the nation’s journey towards becoming a developed and self-reliant country, setting a global benchmark in labour reforms.
“Thanks to Modi Ji for these historic codes,” Shah added, expressing confidence that the reforms will help India emerge as a role model for worker-centric governance worldwide.
