New Delhi, 5th Dec:
Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will lead a Parliamentary Consultative Committee on a field visit to Banas Dairy in Banaskantha from 4 to 6 December 2025 to review progress in cooperative dairy development and allied sectors. Ministers of State for Cooperation Krishan Pal Gurjar and Murlidhar Mohol, senior officials and Members of Parliament will join the delegation.

The visit aims to demonstrate how the cooperative model—rooted in the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and implemented through the Ministry of Cooperation under Shah’s leadership—is driving rural prosperity, value addition and sustainable development under Sahakar Se Samriddhi and Viksit Bharat.

The committee’s third meeting will take place at Banas Dairy on 6 December, where Shah will review wide-ranging initiatives including dairy development, circular economy projects, livestock productivity, water conservation and cooperative strengthening.

During a public event at Sanadar on the same day, the Minister will inaugurate the Agthala Bio-CNG and Fertilizer Plant, a major circular economy initiative aimed at supplementing farmer incomes while generating cleaner energy. He will also perform the groundbreaking ceremony for a 150 TPD Milk Powder and Baby Food Plant.

Ahead of the meeting, MPs will tour advanced processing facilities at Banas Dairy’s Palanpur headquarters, including the Cheese, UHT and Protein Plants, which produce high-protein value-added dairy products such as lassi and buttermilk. They will also review livestock-centric programmes at the Dama Semen Station and the Embryo Transfer Lab in Raiya.

To understand grassroots cooperative functioning, the delegation will visit the Sherpura Village Dairy Cooperative Society in Deesa on 5 December, followed by an assessment of the Banas Soil Testing Lab in Tharad.

The itinerary also includes a visit to the Amrit Sarovar at Jherda village—one of 319 such water bodies developed by Banas Dairy under the national rejuvenation initiative. As part of environmental sustainability efforts, MPs will take part in a tree-plantation ceremony at Lunava, where Banas Dairy has already undertaken large-scale plantation activities using over nine crore seed balls and saplings.
