New Delhi, 25th Dec. Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, will dedicate over 10,000 newly established Multipurpose Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (M-PACSs), along with dairy and fisheries cooperatives, to the nation on Wednesday, 25 December, at a national conference in New Delhi. The event will be held at the ICAR Convention Centre, Pusa.
During the conference, Shri Amit Shah will distribute registration certificates, RuPay Kisan Credit Cards (KCC), and micro ATMs to the newly formed cooperative societies. These tools aim to enhance financial inclusion and ensure easy access to credit for rural communities, thereby supporting India’s agricultural and rural economy.
The event will also be attended by Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh (Lalan Singh), and senior officials from various sectors.
In his address, Amit Shah will highlight the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, under whose leadership the Ministry of Cooperation is focused on the development of cooperative societies in every panchayat. These efforts aim to promote local development, self-reliance, and economic empowerment in rural areas.
The newly formed M-PACS will play a significant role in addressing challenges faced by rural communities by offering financial services and serving as a collaborative platform for rural development. These societies include credit societies, dairy cooperatives, and fisheries cooperatives, contributing to the overall development of India’s rural economy.
The event will also discuss strategies for improving agricultural productivity, creating sustainable job opportunities, and enhancing financial stability in rural areas. Additionally, there will be deliberations on stabilizing farmers’ livelihoods and providing additional sources of income.
Amit Shah’s emphasis on empowering rural communities, especially women-led panchayats, through cooperative societies is central to the government’s rural development agenda. The government is committed to establishing more cooperative societies, particularly in the Northeast, and creating new opportunities for economic growth in these regions.
As of now, out of the 10,496 newly created M-PACS, dairy, and fisheries cooperatives, 3,523 M-PACS, 6,288 dairy cooperatives, and 685 fisheries cooperatives have been registered. The government aims to establish 2 lakh new M-PACS nationwide in the coming years, further strengthening the cooperative sector.
This national conference will be attended by around 1,200 delegates, including representatives from cooperatives, state governments, and related organizations, providing a platform for collaborative discussions on promoting rural economic empowerment and sustainable agricultural practices.
This initiative aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision of “Sehkar Se Samriddhi” and aims to improve the livelihoods of farmers and rural communities through cooperative growth.
