Home Minister to lay foundation for NFSU and CFSL campuses in Bhubaneswar

New Delhi, 5th March: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will attend the 57th Raising Day ceremony of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) as the chief guest in Mundali, Odisha, on March 6.

During the visit, Shah will also lay the foundation stone of the campus of National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) in Bhubaneswar and virtually inaugurate its transit campus.

Strengthening forensic infrastructure
The Home Minister will also perform the Bhumi Pujan for the campus of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), which will be located alongside the NFSU campus in Bhubaneswar.

Officials said the permanent NFSU campus will be developed on 40 acres of land provided by the Government of Odisha and is expected to emerge as a centre of excellence for forensic and allied sciences.

The new facility will significantly strengthen the forensic and investigative infrastructure in the state.

Exhibition and forensic initiatives
Shah will also inaugurate an exhibition on the ‘New Nyaya Sanhita’, highlighting India’s reformed criminal justice framework.

In addition, he will flag off a Mobile Forensic Van, aimed at improving on-ground forensic investigation capabilities.

Police infrastructure projects
During the event, the Home Minister will also virtually inaugurate several police station buildings and facilities designed to strengthen policing infrastructure under initiatives of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

These include the launch of CC and EO facilities in selected police stations.

MoUs and academic programmes
Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) will also be signed between the National Forensic Sciences University and institutions including Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar and Rashtriya Raksha University.

The temporary NFSU campus will initially offer specialised academic programmes such as M.Sc. in Forensic Science, M.Sc. in Digital Forensics and Information Security, and LL.M. in Cyber Law and Cyber Crime Investigation.

The event will also be attended by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, the Union Home Secretary and several other dignitaries.
