Lucknow, 15th June: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, today distributed appointment letters to 60,244 Civil Police Constables of Uttar Pradesh Police in Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath and other dignitaries were present at the significant event.
In his address, Shah emphasized that this recruitment, completed with “no bribery, no recommendation slips, no favoritism, no casteism,” represents a major achievement for the Uttar Pradesh government, marking the selection of 60,244 youth purely on the basis of merit from 48 lakh applications. He noted that these new police personnel are expected to embody the core mantras of “service, security, and sensitivity” to establish the rule of law in UP.
Highlighting the modernization efforts under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s leadership, Shri Shah stated that while police forces nationwide are being updated, Uttar Pradesh saw its reforms accelerate after Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took office in 2017. He expressed satisfaction that over 12,000 young women are among the recruits, reinforcing the Modi government’s commitment to women’s reservation policies.
Shah asserted that Uttar Pradesh, once known for riots, is now riot-free, with governance based on justice rather than criminal influence. He challenged the new recruits to contribute to making Uttar Pradesh not only developed but also secure, ensuring that “goons and mafias” fear the police, while the “poor, Dalits, backward, and tribal communities” view police personnel as “messiahs.”
The Union Home Minister also touched upon broader national achievements under PM Modi’s 11-year governance, including:
- Poverty Reduction: 250 million people lifted above the poverty line.
- Welfare Schemes: Provision of gas cylinders, toilets, tap water, electricity, free grains, free healthcare, and annual financial support for farmers to 600 million people, significantly improving the lives of backward, Dalit, and tribal communities.
- Economic Growth: India’s economy moving from 11th to 4th globally, projected to be third-largest by 2027.
- Infrastructure & Education: Development of new education policy, extensive road networks, over 150 airports, and metro rail in more than 143 cities.
- National Security: Naxalism, once spread across 11 states, now confined to just three districts, with a goal to make the entire country Naxal-free by March 2026.
- Counter-Terrorism: Modi government’s decisive responses to Uri, Pulwama, and Poonch attacks with surgical strikes, airstrikes, and “Operation Sindoor,” which “razed terror bases to the ground.”
- Technological Advancement: Integration of NAFIS, CCTNS, ICJS, and forensic science to deliver justice within three years from FIR to Supreme Court under new criminal laws (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam).
- Cultural Revival: Ram Lalla enshrined in Ayodhya, Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, Somnath Temple transformation, abolition of triple talaq, and implementation of Uniform Civil Code in Uttarakhand.
Shah concluded by reiterating the immense responsibility of the new police force to uphold law and order and contribute to India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047.
