Centre Reaffirms Commitment to Support States During Natural Disasters Under PM Modi’s Leadership

New Delhi, 28th Oct: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah has approved an advance release of ₹20 crore as the second installment of the Central share from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to Nagaland. The financial assistance will help the state provide immediate relief to people affected by extremely heavy rainfall, flash floods, and landslides during the south-west monsoon this year.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Amit Shah, the Government of India continues to stand shoulder to shoulder with the state governments during natural calamities and disasters, extending full support through financial and logistic assistance.

During the financial year 2025–26, the Central Government has already released ₹15,554 crore to 27 states under SDRF and ₹2,267.44 crore to 15 states under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF). Additionally, ₹4,571.30 crore have been released from the State Disaster Mitigation Fund (SDMF) to 21 states and ₹372.09 crore from the National Disaster Mitigation Fund (NDMF) to nine states.

The Central Government has also provided all necessary logistic assistance, including the deployment of NDRF, Army, and Air Force teams to flood, landslide, and cloudburst-affected regions. During this year’s monsoon, the maximum deployment of 199 NDRF teams took place across 30 States and Union Territories, conducting extensive rescue and relief operations.

This proactive approach underscores the Centre’s commitment to ensuring timely disaster response and recovery efforts nationwide, safeguarding lives and livelihoods.
