New Delhi, 7th Feb: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday departed for an official visit to Malaysia at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, aiming to further strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.

In his departure statement, the Prime Minister noted that the historic ties between India and Malaysia have witnessed steady progress in recent years. He said he looks forward to holding discussions with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to expand cooperation across key sectors.

The Prime Minister said the talks would focus on deepening defence and security ties, enhancing economic and innovation partnerships, and exploring collaboration in new and emerging domains.

He also expressed eagerness to interact with the Indian community in Malaysia, which numbers nearly three million people and represents one of the largest Indian diasporas in the world.

Highlighting their role, the Prime Minister said the diaspora has made immense contributions to Malaysia’s progress and continues to serve as a living bridge between the two nations, strengthening their historic friendship.
