New Delhi, 6th Feb: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday welcomed the signing of a historic agreement aimed at accelerating development in Eastern Nagaland, calling it a major step toward peace, progress and inclusive growth in the Northeast.

Responding to a post by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on X, the Prime Minister said the agreement would enhance the development trajectory of Eastern Nagaland and create new opportunities for its people.

“This is a historic agreement indeed, which will enhance the development trajectory of Eastern Nagaland in particular. I am sure it will open new avenues of opportunity and prosperity for the people,” the Prime Minister said.

He added that the pact reflects the government’s “unwavering commitment to peace, progress and inclusive growth in the Northeast.”

The agreement, signed between the Government of India, the Government of Nagaland and the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO), is aimed at addressing long-pending developmental and administrative concerns in the region.

The Centre has in recent years focused on resolving longstanding issues in the Northeast through dialogue, infrastructure development and targeted welfare initiatives, with multiple peace accords signed across the region.
