Himachal Govt Appoints Senior IAS Prabodh Saxena as new Chief Secretary of State

Shimla, 3rd Jan. The Himachal Pradesh government appointed senior IAS officer Prabodh Saxena (IAS:1990: HP) as the state’s new Chief Secretary on Saturday (31.12.2022). As the top bureaucrat, he succeeded RD Dhiman (IAS:1988: HP), who retired on Saturday.

Dhiman, who took over as Chief Secretary in July, was sworn in on Sunday as Chief Information Commissioner for a three-year term.

Prabhodh Saxena’s term could last until March 2025, when he will retire.

Prior to his appointment, he was the Additional Chief Secretary for Finance, Planning, Economics, and Statistics, as well as the 20 Point Programme, with additional responsibilities for Personnel, Environment, Science, and Technology.

Ram Subhag Singh (IAS:1987: HP), who is currently serving as Principal Advisor (Administrative Reforms), has been shifted as Principal Advisor to the Chief Minister. He was named Special Chief Secretary (MPP & Power and NCES) and Chairperson of the HP State Electricity Board. He will also advise the CM on ways to increase milk production and procurement. Singh will report to the Chief Minister and will have the same rank, status, and responsibilities as the Chief Secretary.

Sanjay Gupta (IAS:1988: HP), Principal Advisor Redressal and Public Grievances, has been appointed Chairman-cum-Managing Director of the Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board and Chairman of the Ropeways and Rapid Transport System Development Corporation. He will work under the Chief Minister’s overall administrative control and supervision, and will have the rank and status of Chief Secretary.
