New Delhi, 3rd Nov. The Union Health Ministry on Tuesday sent central teams of experts to nine states and union territories to control and keep a check on the dengue outbreak. Increasing number of dengue cases in Haryana, Punjab, Kerala, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir is a cause of concern.
Expert teams include officials from the National Center for Disease Control and the Mosquito-Borne Disease Control Program. A letter in this regard has also been sent to the Director General of Health Services and Principal Secretaries (Health) of nine states and union territories.
Central teams have been deployed to assist the State Governments by providing technical guidance including public health measures to deal with the dengue outbreak, the letter said.
Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Monday directed the Union Health Secretary to identify the states with high dengue cases and send a team of experts.
Earlier, the Health Minister reviewed the dengue situation in Delhi for control and management of the disease.
More than 1,530 cases of dengue have been reported in Delhi so far this year. Of these, around 1,200 cases were reported in October, which is the highest number of cases in a month in the last four years.
