Sonipat, 16th June: In a tragic turn of events, the body of Sheetal, a model associated with the Haryana music industry, was recovered from a canal in Kharkhauda, Sonipat district, on Monday, police officials confirmed. The 26-year-old had been missing since June 14, and a missing person report had been filed in Panipat shortly after her disappearance.
According to Ajit Singh, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Headquarters), Sonipat, the local police received a tip-off about the presence of a woman’s body floating in the canal near Kharkhauda. Upon arrival at the scene, officials immediately cordoned off the area and initiated a preliminary investigation.
“We received information about the presence of the body of a woman in a canal. Police reached the spot and initiated an investigation. During the identification process, it was found that a missing report for a woman named Sheetal had been filed in Panipat. Further actions are underway,” ACP Singh said.
Identification and Case Status
The body was later identified as that of Sheetal, based on clothing, jewelry, and confirmation by her family. Sources in the investigation team revealed that the body showed no immediate signs of external injuries, but an autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death.
The police are now treating the case with suspicion and are not ruling out foul play. Investigators are speaking with family members, friends, and associates from the music and modeling industry to piece together Sheetal’s last known whereabouts and any potential threats or disputes she may have been involved in.
Rising Career Cut Short
Sheetal was a rising figure in Haryana’s regional entertainment scene, having appeared in multiple music videos and regional modeling assignments. Friends and fans expressed shock and grief over her sudden death, with tributes pouring in on social media from the local artist community.
“She was talented, full of life, and had just started gaining recognition. We can’t believe she’s gone,” said one fellow artist who had recently worked with her.
Her family has urged the police to conduct a thorough investigation, insisting that she had no known history of depression or personal disputes that might explain a voluntary disappearance or suicide.
Investigation Continues
As of now, police have registered a case of unnatural death under Section 174 of the CrPC and are awaiting the post-mortem report from the Sonipat Civil Hospital. Investigators are also analyzing CCTV footage, mobile location data, and call records to understand the circumstances that led to her disappearance and subsequent death.
Authorities have not ruled out upgrading the case to murder if any evidence of wrongdoing surfaces in the coming days.
The sudden death of Sheetal has sent shockwaves through the regional entertainment industry, leaving fans and colleagues demanding answers and justice.
