Bhiwani, 19th Aug: Haryana’s Home Secretary has ordered the suspension of mobile internet services, bulk SMS, and all dongle services in the Bhiwani and Charkhi Dadri districts. The order, which will remain in effect until 11 a.m. on August 21, was issued to prevent any disturbance to public peace and order following escalating tensions over the murder of a female teacher.
The case gained significant public attention after a 19-year-old playschool teacher, Manisha, was found with her throat slit in a field in Singhani village, Bhiwani, on August 13. Her family accused the police of delaying the registration of their complaint and refused to perform her last rites until the culprits were arrested.
On Tuesday, students protested in front of the Mini Secretariat, demanding justice for Manisha and calling for the arrest of the accused. They said that merely suspending police officers was not enough. Congress General Secretary Kumari Selja also criticized the police, stating that if they had acted in time, Manisha would be alive today.
The Haryana State Women’s Commission Chairperson, Renu Bhatia, noted a new twist in the case after a suicide note was reportedly found in Manisha’s bag, raising questions about whether the death was a suicide or a murder.
