Ladakh, 23rd Sept: The Indian Army has opened a 91-kilometre road connecting Hanle to the border village of Chumar, strengthening military logistics and giving a fillip to tourism in the high-altitude region.

Built by the Border Roads Organisation’s Project Himank, the route climbs between 14,500 and 17,200 feet and crosses the Salsa La Pass.

The Army said the road will improve access to Hanle Observatory, Kyun Tso Lake, Chilling Tso Lake and Tso Moriri while supporting socio-economic growth in remote Ladakh.
