Varanasi, 1st Feb. Following the court’s order, devotees were able to offer prayers at the Gyanvapi mosque complex on Wednesday night. The rituals took place in the presence of District Magistrate S Rajalingam, Police Commissioner Ashok Mutha Jain, and other officials. The district officials and commissioner entered the premises at around 9 pm and completed the necessary formalities by 2 am.
On Wednesday, District Judge Dr Ajay Krishna Vishvesha ordered the Varanasi district administration to make arrangements for the puja to begin within seven days. Rajalingam promptly complied with the court’s order and made the necessary arrangements for devotees to offer prayers at the Gyanvapi mosque complex.
The barricades have been removed as per the court’s order, and visuals from outside the temple show devotees expressing their happiness after offering prayers. One devotee, who came out of the complex after worship, said, “We saw the nandi, Lord Shiva’s bull. We have been waiting since yesterday to offer prayers. The temple should be built. We are very happy after offering prayers.”

Advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain, representing the Hindu side, stated, “Puja will start within seven days. Everyone will have the right to perform Puja.”
The court has granted permission for the Hindu side to offer prayers at Vyas Ka Tekhana, and the district administration has been given seven days to make the necessary arrangements.
The Gyanvapi mosque complex has four cellars in the basement, one of which is still in possession of the Vyas family members who used to live there. Vyas, as the hereditary pujari, had requested permission to enter the tahkhana and resume the puja.
