Chandigarh, 10th Jan: In a move aimed at delivering faster, transparent and technology-driven police services, Haryana Police on Friday launched a WhatsApp Chatbot service to make routine police-related information and assistance easily accessible to citizens.

The pilot project was formally inaugurated in Gurugram by Police Commissioner Vikas Kumar Arora, who said that in a rapidly growing metropolitan city, citizens expect modern and responsive public services, and policing must evolve with technology to meet these expectations.

Calling the chatbot more than just a digital tool, Arora said it would strengthen public service, transparency and accountability, while making police–citizen communication simpler, quicker and more reliable.

According to Gurugram Police, the new platform will help save citizens’ time and also balance the workload of police personnel by reducing unnecessary visits to police stations. With basic information and services available digitally, police will be able to focus more on serious cases and law enforcement priorities.

The WhatsApp Chatbot offers a wide range of services on a single platform. Citizens can access complete details of general police stations, women police stations and cyber police stations, including the name of the station in-charge, contact numbers, email IDs and Google Map locations. It also provides women safety information, guidance from trained women officers, cybercrime complaint procedures and details of required documents.

For cyber-related issues, the chatbot connects users to the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal and the cyber helpline number 1930. It also enables reporting of traffic jams, road accidents, potholes, waterlogging, road blockages and vehicle breakdowns. Citizens can upload photographs, share their live location and receive a reference ID for their complaints.

To use the service, citizens can send “Hello” on WhatsApp to 95999-64777, select their preferred language and choose from the list of available services under the “View Services” option.

Gurugram Police has appealed to residents to make maximum use of the WhatsApp Chatbot and partner with the police in building a safer, smarter and more cooperative society.
