PM Modi Unveils ₹60,000-Crore Development Push in Odisha, Launches Indigenous BSNL 4G

Jharsuguda, 27th Sept: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for projects worth over ₹60,000 crore in Jharsuguda, declaring that the Centre and state government are “committed to accelerating the pace of development in Odisha.”

Addressing a packed gathering, the Prime Minister said the projects span infrastructure, connectivity, education and telecom, while promising special focus on the poor, Dalits, backward classes and tribal communities. “Our government places great emphasis on providing basic facilities to the underprivileged,” he stated.

BSNL’s Indigenous 4G Milestone
Marking a key step toward technological self-reliance, Modi launched BSNL’s fully indigenous 4G network from Jharsuguda. “India now joins the select five nations with home-grown technology to launch 4G services,” he said, adding that nearly one lakh towers will bring high-speed internet to over two crore people, including remote tribal regions. The towers are also 5G-ready.

Semiconductor Hub in the Making
The Prime Minister announced Centre’s approval for two semiconductor units and a semiconductor park in Odisha, calling it a leap toward Atmanirbhar Bharat. “The small chip used in phones, televisions and cars will soon be made in Odisha,” he said, highlighting opportunities for youth and industry.

Major Infrastructure & Welfare Push
PM Modi flagged off the Amrit Bharat train from Berhampur to Surat, inaugurated new IIT expansions, and launched projects covering education, skill development and mining. Nearly 50,000 families received approval for new homes under the Antyodaya Griha Yojana, while 40,000 tribal families will benefit from the PM Janman Yojana.

The Prime Minister detailed nationwide GST reforms and tax relief measures, citing savings for households and farmers. He also promoted the “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar” campaign, which has conducted over three crore health screenings for women.

Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Union Ministers including Ashwini Vaishnaw attended the event, with several chief ministers joining via video link.
