New Delhi, 7th May: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday directed the chiefs of all Central Armed Police Forces to immediately recall personnel currently on leave, in the wake of Indian armed forces’ retaliatory strikes in Pakistan, sources said. The strikes, dubbed ‘Operation Sindoor,’ were carried out in response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that claimed the lives of 26 civilians.
Sources confirmed that Shah has been in constant contact with Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, instructing them to ensure the safety of civilians residing near the Line of Control (LoC) by relocating them to safer zones. The Home Minister also directed local authorities to prepare bunkers for the civilian population in anticipation of any emergency situation.
Reviewing the internal security situation in the country, Shah asked top security officials to remain on high alert and maintain strict vigilance across all sensitive locations. “The Modi government is resolved to give a befitting response to any attack on India and its people,” he reportedly stated, adding that Bharat is firmly committed to eradicating terrorism from its roots.
In a post on social media platform X, Shah said, “Proud of our armed forces. Operation Sindoor is Bharat’s response to the brutal killing of our innocent brothers in Pahalgam.”
The retaliatory military action follows heightened tensions along the border after the deadly terror strike in Pahalgam. The government’s swift response underscores its policy of zero tolerance against terrorism and commitment to safeguarding national security.
