Governor Assam Prof. Jagdish Mukhi inaugurated Brahmaputra Park and Surya Namaskaram at Raj Bhavan

New Delhi, 30th May. Prof Jagdish Mukhi the 30th Governor of Assam along with the first lady inaugurated the newly constructed recreational park viz. Brahmaputra Park and Surya Namaskaram at Raj Bhavan on Friday.
Prof Jagdish Mukhi in his message on Instagram and Facebook page said.” Very much delighted to inform you all that, I along with the First Lady inaugurated both the newly constructed recreational park viz. Brahmaputra Park and Surya Namaskaram at Raj Bhavan. My heartfelt thanks to everyone for their association in making these two beautiful projects on Raj Bhavan premises. Your efforts and prowess are highly appreciated.”

Prof Jagdish Mukhi the 30th Governor of Assam along with the first lady inaugurated the newly constructed recreational park viz. Brahmaputra Park and Surya Namaskaram at Raj Bhavan on Friday.
The Surya Namaskaram park has bronze statues showcasing Surya Namaskar postures from the ancient Indian yogic technique and is built inside the governor house premises.
Prof. Jagdish Mukhi prior to this held the portfolios of finance, planning, excise & taxation and higher education in the Delhi Government. He is credited with working extensively for the welfare of the people of Delhi. He was the leader of the opposition for ten years from 1998 to 2008.

Some of the notable achievements credited to Prof. Jagdish Mukhi’s name were banning of lottery trade etc in Delhi in 1994 when he was the minister of finance. Because of his keen interest and strict initiative in bringing a bill, could contain the consumption of alcohol in Delhi. As the minister of Higher Education, Prof. Mukhi had established a self-funded University namely Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University in Delhi. He was also honoured as the best finance minister of the nation and received the best MLA award in Delhi Vidhan Sabha two times. He represented the Janak Puri constituency continuously from 1980 and won seven times from the same constituency. Jagdish Mukhi was born to Late J.R Mukhi and Late Laxi Devi Mukhi on 1st December 1942.
