New Delhi, 13th May. The government panel on Thursday answering questions such as when should corona-infected patients take the vaccine dose, and when can pregnant and lactating women can administer the Covid vaccine recommended that corona-infected patients should take their first dose of vaccine 6 months after recovery.

The government’s National Immunization Technical Advisory Group (NTAGI) has recommended increasing the duration between the two doses of the Corona Vaccine Covishield to 12–16 week. However, changes are not recommended for doses of Covaxin. Currently two doses of Covishield vaccine are given at intervals of 4-8 weeks.

The government panel said that pregnant women can be given the option of getting any of the Covid-19 vaccine and breastfeeding women can get the vaccine at any time after giving birth.

The NTAGI has also stated that those who have suffered from Covid-19 and have been confirmed to be infected with SARS-CoV-2 by test should not be vaccinated for six months after recovering. The suggestions of the National Immunization Technical Advisory Group will be forwarded to the National Expert Group of overseas vaccination for Covid19.
