New Delhi, 7th Dec. Are you planning a trip abroad? Indian passport holders can travel to 60 countries without a visa.
According to the most recent Henley Passport Index rankings, Japan, Singapore, and South Korea have the most powerful passports in the world. For the fifth year in a row, a Japanese passport allows easy entry into 193 countries and remains the most powerful. Singapore and South Korea, which are ranked second and third in the latest Henley Passport Index, provide access to 192 countries.
What is India’s position?
The Indian passport, which is ranked 87, allows easy access to 60 countries.
The lifting of the travel ban has helped passports regain strength. Following the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic in March 2020, India suspended international flights in order to contain the spread of covid-19. After two years, the ban was finally lifted in March of this year.
Traveling to a tourist destination without a visa is not only cheaper, but also less stressful.
Countries such as Germany, Spain, Finland, Luxembourg, and Italy round out the top ten. According to the most recent ranking, the United Kingdom ranks sixth with access to 187 countries, while the United States ranks seventh with a score of 186.
Russian travel documents rank 50th, allowing easy access to 119 countries. China ranked 69th with access to 80 countries, while Afghanistan’s passport is the least useful, allowing holders to enter only 27.
“The recovery and reclamation of our travel freedoms, and our innate instinct to move and migrate, will take time,” Henley & Partners Chairman Christian Kaelin said in a statement, Bloomberg reported.
The index, which is based on 17 years of data, assists wealthy individuals and governments in determining the value of citizenship around the world by determining which passports provide the most visa-free, or visa-on-arrival, access.
The Henley Passport Index is the original, authoritative ranking of all the world’s passports based on the number of visa-free destinations to which their holders have access.
The index is based on exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the world’s largest and most accurate travel information database, and has been enhanced by the research team at Henley & Partners.
