Gold and Silver Prices Fluctuate Amid Tariff Uncertainty

 Gold and silver prices showed fluctuations today, influenced by ongoing uncertainty from US President Donald Trump’s tariff threats and a softer United States Dollar. Experts continue to advocate for investing in these precious metals, highlighting their role as a safe haven for portfolios in volatile market conditions.

Over the past two decades, gold has delivered a stellar performance, skyrocketing by an impressive 1,200 percent from ₹7,638 in 2005 to surpass the ₹1,00,000 mark in 2025. The metal has delivered positive returns in 16 of these years. Year-to-date, gold prices have risen 31 percent, solidifying its position as one of the top-performing asset classes. Silver has also demonstrated resilience, gaining a solid 668.84 percent over the same period and holding above the ₹1 lakh/kg mark for the past three weeks.

According to data from the Indian Bullion Association (IBA) at 6:20 a.m. on Wednesday, the price of 24-carat gold stood at ₹1,01,180 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold was priced at ₹92,748 per 10 grams. The MCX gold index was trading at ₹1,00,900 per 10 grams. Silver (999 Fine) was priced at ₹1,12,760 per kilogram, while MCX silver was at ₹1,12,407 per kilogram.
