Gold and Silver Prices Fall in Early Trade

Prices of 24-carat gold and silver declined marginally in India, while US gold prices rose on a weaker dollar.

New Delhi, 14th Aug: The price of 24-carat gold saw a marginal decline of ₹10 in early trade on Thursday, with ten grams of the precious metal trading at ₹1,01,340, according to the GoodReturns website. The price of silver also decreased by ₹100, bringing one kilogram of the precious metal to ₹1,14,900.

The price of 22-carat gold also fell by ₹10, with ten grams of the yellow metal selling at ₹92,890.

City-specific prices for 24-carat gold were uniform at ₹1,01,340 for ten grams in Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai. Delhi saw a slightly higher price at ₹1,01,490. For 22-carat gold, the price was ₹92,890 in Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad, while Delhi’s price stood at ₹93,040.

Globally, the precious metals market showed a contrasting trend. US gold rose for a third straight session on Thursday, boosted by a weaker dollar and lower Treasury yields as traders increased bets for a US interest rate cut in September. Spot gold was up 0.4 per cent at $3,368.99 per ounce, while US gold futures for December delivery rose 0.3 per cent to $3,417.80.

Spot silver edged 0.2 per cent higher to $38.56 per ounce, while platinum and palladium also saw mixed movements.
