New Delhi, 26th August. Congress MP Jairam Ramesh slammed Ghulam Nabi Azad, who announced his resignation from the party earlier today, saying that a man who has been treated with the utmost respect has betrayed the party leadership through his vicious personal attacks, revealing his true character. Jairam Ramesh stated in a tweet without mentioning Azad’s name that GNA’s (probable reference to Azad) DNA has been modi-fied.
“A man who has been treated with the greatest respect by the Congress leadership has betrayed it by his vicious personal attacks which reveal his true character. GNA’s DNA has been modi-fied,” Congress General Secretary in charge of Communications said in a tweet.
Ghulam Nabi Azad, a veteran Congress leader, resigned from all party positions on Friday, blaming Rahul Gandhi’s “immaturity” for “demolishing the consultative mechanism” in the party.
Azad claimed in a five-page letter to party interim president Sonia Gandhi that the party is run by a coterie and that all major decisions are made by “Shri Rahul Gandhi or, worse, his security guards and PAs.”
The development comes just days after Azad resigned from Jammu and Kashmir’s organizational post. Azad stated that the situation in the Congress party has reached a “point of no return,” referring to his long association with the party and his close relationship with Indira Gandhi.
Azad’s resignation comes ahead of the 2024 elections and after reports that elections for Congress chief would be postponed once more. The Congress Party’s top leadership has announced a “Bharat Jodo Yatra.”
