Calls out sustained harassment, fake propaganda, and smear campaigns against her and colleagues

GG News Bureau
Glasgow, UK, 26th Oct: Global Indian Dr. Poonam Gupta OBE & Eminent Community Leader ,living in Scotland ,has issued a powerful statement condemning what she described as “toxic, misogynistic behaviour and false propaganda” within a section of the Overseas Friends of BJP (OFBJP) UK. Expressing full support for fellow member Susheel Ji .President Kuldeep Singh Shekhawat & all Supporters for India and PM Modi .
Mrs Gupta said it was “long overdue that someone had the courage to call out this disgraceful conduct.”

“For too long, many of us have chosen silence out of decency, believing that karma will eventually deliver justice. But silence should not be mistaken for weakness. It is time to speak the truth,” she said.

Recalling her long association with the organisation, Dr. Poonam Gupta stated that her experiences with this group date back to 2021, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Scotland. She and her team, along with her husband with OFBJP team in the leadership of Kuldeep Ji Shekhawat worked tirelessly to ensure the Prime Minister received a warm welcome. Despite their efforts, she claimed that not a single member from OFBJP UK, London, came forward to assist during the event.

Following the successful event, she alleged that Dhruv Kumar and Suresh Ji visited her home and were treated with respect. However, tensions arose when Dhruv Kumar expressed interest in joining the OFBJP Scotland core committee, but his inclusion was declined by the team. “If he truly wanted to serve the community, he could have chosen to support from outside the core team, like many others. But that was not what he wanted,” she said.

Dr. Gupta revealed that soon after, an attempt was made to fraudulently alter her company’s ownership through forged signatures — an act she immediately reported to the police and the Inland Revenue Services in Scotland. She added that the act appeared to be an effort to malign her husband’s image by changing the company ownership to his name, though he had no knowledge of it.

Highlighting the misogyny she faced, Dr. Gupta said she was constantly questioned about “what she had done to deserve to be the Convenor in Scotland,” as if her gender, and not her work, defined her worth. She further alleged that during a protest against the BBC in Glasgow in January 2023, Dhruv Kumar verbally assaulted her publicly, an incident that was reported to the leadership.

In 2024, Dr. Gupta said she became the target of a smear campaign when defamatory and fabricated articles accusing her and her family of serious crimes were circulated online. The blog site removed these within 24 hours, but the same group circulated screenshots to over 160 recipients, including Members of the Scottish Parliament and the Ministry of External Affairs, just minutes before her scheduled speech at the Scottish Parliament. “This was a clear and coordinated attempt to humiliate and discredit me,” she stated.

Dr. Gupta further accused Darshan Grewal of spreading fresh slander against her and her husband, sharing defamatory messages via WhatsApp. “Having personally endured their tactics, I know exactly how this group operates and how low they are willing to stoop,” she said.

She declared that she has every right to pursue legal action against the individuals involved for harassment, defamation, and intimidation. “What has stopped me so far is my deep respect for our community and my reluctance to see Indians publicly divided in a foreign land. But make no mistake — I will not hesitate to act if this persecution continues,” Dr. Gupta warned.

Accusing Dhruv Kumar of running a “sustained campaign of harassment” against her, her company, and those close to her, she described the pattern as “misogyny, insecurity, and systematic abuse to achieve power.”

“I have been a victim of this targeted hate for years — today it is me and Kuldeep ji Shekhawat, a thorough gentleman staunch supporter of BJP & PM Modi jI have had the privilege to know over the years; tomorrow it could be anyone who dares to do good work,” she remarked.

Concluding her statement, Dr. Gupta expressed her solidarity with members of OFBJP UK who continue to uphold integrity and unity, naming Kuldeep Ji, Shishir Ji, and Vijay Ji as examples of those working tirelessly for the betterment of the community. She criticised a few individuals for being driven by jealousy and greed, seeking only “photo opportunities with ministers and VIPs visiting from India.”

“You cannot always see jealousy, but you can feel when someone’s energy changes around your success,” she said, adding, “This Diwali, I hope these individuals reflect on their actions and understand that no lie can outshine truth — and no hate campaign can overcome integrity.”
