Begusarai, 30th Jan. In response to Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge’s statement that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s decision was pre-planned, Union Minister Giriraj Singh mentioned the INDIA bloc meetings in Patna, Bengaluru, and Mumbai. He questioned whether Kharge was foolish to have taken photos with Nitish Kumar during these meetings.
Congress Chief Kharge has alleged that Nitish Kumar’s decision to end his alliance with Mahagathbandhan was pre-planned and that he kept the INDIA bloc unaware of his intentions.
Singh, while speaking to ANI, said, “If it was all pre-planned, was Kharge foolish to have taken photos with him? If he knew everything, he shouldn’t have allowed Nitish Kumar to join the INDIA bloc.” He also added, “Now, what happened to Kejriwal and Mamata? Didn’t Kharge recognize them earlier?”
Nitish Kumar’s move to end his alliance with the Rashtriya Janata Dal and join forces with the BJP is a major setback for the INDIA bloc, just months before the Lok Sabha polls where they will face the formidable BJP.
After parting ways with the BJP in 2022, Nitish Kumar took the initiative to unite all opposition forces against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his party in the national election. He was sworn in as Chief Minister of Bihar for the ninth time, this time with the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
This is the second time in two years that Nitish Kumar has switched sides, making it his fifth crossover in a little over a decade before becoming chief minister for the ninth time.
On Sunday, two Deputy Chief Ministers from the BJP and six other ministers took the oath along with Nitish Kumar.
Meanwhile, the INDIA bloc is already facing internal differences as West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced that they will contest the Lok Sabha polls independently in their respective states.
