Georgia Parliamentary Delegation Meets VP Radhakrishnan

Talks focus on new Indian Embassy, stronger connectivity and expanding bilateral cooperation

New Delhi, 3rd Dec: A Parliamentary Delegation from Georgia, led by Shalva Papuashvili, Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, called on Vice-President of India and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, C. P. Radhakrishnan, at Parliament House on Wednesday.

During the meeting, both sides held productive discussions and welcomed the opening of the new Indian Embassy in Georgia, describing it as an important step in strengthening diplomatic engagement. They also noted the potential for enhanced direct connectivity, which is expected to facilitate greater economic, cultural and people-to-people exchanges.

The talks underscored the deepening India–Georgia partnership, shared democratic values and the importance of establishing regular parliamentary interactions to further institutionalise the relationship.

Delegation members exchanged views on expanding cooperation across several sectors, including tourism, information technology, pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, the film industry and sports. The discussions also touched upon strengthening academic collaboration between universities and the growing presence of Indian students in Georgia. Both sides took positive note of rising tourism flows and expressed optimism about future prospects.

Officials said the meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to broader engagement and sustained dialogue.
