Nagpur, 1st March. Dolly Chaiwala, whose viral video serving tea to Bill Gates captivated the internet, revealed that he initially didn’t recognize the Microsoft co-founder until the clip gained traction on social media.
Speaking candidly to ANI, the Nagpur tea seller shared, “I didn’t know who he was. I thought he was a foreigner, so I served him tea. The next day, back in Nagpur, I realized who I had served tea to.”
Recounting the encounter, he added, “We didn’t speak much. He stood beside me, and I focused on my work. After sipping his tea, he exclaimed, ‘Wow, Dolly ki Chai.'”
When asked about his distinctive attire, Dolly explained, “I didn’t invent this style; I borrowed it from the South Indian movies I enjoy watching.”
Expressing his aspiration to serve tea to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dolly said, “Today, I feel like ‘Nagpur ka Dolly Chaiwala.’ In the future, I hope to offer tea to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
With a cheerful demeanor, he expressed, “I just want to sell tea with a smile and receive those smiles in return.”
The viral video, featuring Bill Gates requesting “One chai, please,” showcases Dolly’s unique tea-making technique on his cart, highlighting the artistry behind the beloved beverage. The video quickly amassed millions of views upon its online debut.
Dolly disclosed that while initially planned to film in Nagpur, the video shoot was relocated to Hyderabad. Despite not being informed about Bill Gates’ presence, he was invited to demonstrate his signature tea-making style in Hyderabad.
With a substantial following on Instagram and other social platforms, Dolly Chaiwala remains connected with his admirers, sharing reels and photos regularly.
